Cobot

A Mac companion daemon, device protocol, and LVGL firmware for a small round touch display on your local Wi-Fi.

Early software. Not publicly available yet; no download. Grok account credentials never leave the Mac; the glass only holds its own pairing token.

What it does today

Implemented in the current build — not a roadmap. Not open source today. Host-verified; on-glass behavior is not claimed until flashed on real hardware.

In development: a live Grok Bot session feed (local producers and synthetic demo work today).

How it works

Three pieces on a trusted LAN. No cloud account sync.

  1. Mac companion

cobotd listens on loopback for ingest and on the LAN for paired devices. cobot bridge (or another local producer) posts session events you feed it.

  2. Device protocol

Versioned JSON frames over WebSocket. Bearer token auth. Catalog, status, output, approvals.

  3. Round glass

ESP-IDF + LVGL firmware draws the idle mark, overlays output and approvals, and sends bot-nav on left/right input.

Hardware

One board this firmware targets.

Board
Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-2.1
Panel
480×480 round IPS touch (ST7701 RGB + CST820)
Stack
ESP-IDF ≥ 5.3.1, LVGL 8.x UI
Radio
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi to the companion on the LAN

Firmware is an ESP-IDF project in the current build. On-device UI is not claimed verified until flashed on real hardware.

Privacy

Local network product. This marketing page is static HTML — no cookies, no forms, no trackers.

Does

  • Keep Grok account credentials and optional webhook keys on the Mac (under ~/.cobot/secrets); the glass stores only its own pairing token
  • Bind control/ingest HTTP to loopback by default
  • Talk to the glass over a trusted LAN WebSocket
  • Push bot mark metadata (and optional RGB565 pixels) — not account credentials

Does not

  • Put Grok passwords or account cookies on the ESP32
  • Relay session traffic through a Cobot cloud
  • Load third-party scripts or trackers on this page

Status

Early / in development Protocol, daemon, CLI, and firmware are in the current build (not open source today). Not publicly available yet; no download. Flash-and-finger verification on the Waveshare panel is still the honest gate for on-glass claims.
